The Fifty-Five takes the place of the Z1. Like the Z1, the ideal is to combine XC weight with freeride performance. Originally, the 55 was described as a mini 66, but it's actually more than that. It's got all of Marzocchi's top performing features, a brand new 20mm QR axel with its own lever, and it even has a stiffer casting than the 2007 66. On top of that, at 2106g, the specs indicate the top-of-the-line Fifty-Five ATA model to be 200g lighter than the Fox 36 Talas.
There are 5 versions of the new Fifty-Five fork, the Fifty-Five ATA, Fifty-Five ETA, Fifty-Five ATA 2, Fifty-Five TST 2, and Fifty-Five R. They all have 35mm stanchions, Marzocchi's new 20mm QR axel, and an aluminum steerer tube. Travel is basically 160mm, with adjustablility varying between models. Specs on the top-of-the-line Fifty-Five ATA are:
Travel: 125-165mm adjustable
Weight: 2106g / 4.64lbs
Adjustments: Lock Out
Micro Adj. Compression

Spring Type: Air

When did Marzocchi go to post brake mount? No complaints - just curious
Its known fact that the post mount is stronger, but tab mount has been the standard, like its a know fact Mac is better but PC-Microsoft is the standard.
Why the change?
